Liposuction

Liposuction or liposuction is the surgical aspiration of fat located below the surface of the skin. During the last few years, liposuction has been the most popular surgical procedure.

Although age is a very important factor in determining who is the ideal candidate to undergo liposculpture, the general conditions of the organism are even more important. The ideal candidates are those who have made diets and / or exercises but maintain unsightly deposits of body fat. Overweight patients can benefit from this procedure, which although not a method to lose weight, offers good results. However the ideal is that the person has a weight close to normal. There are no absolute age limits for undergoing liposuction.

Anesthesia
The type of anesthesia will depend on the surgeon’s evaluation of the patient (this includes the patient’s condition, the amount of fat to be removed, the general conditions and the type of surgical technique). According to these parameters the anesthesia can be regional, general, local or by intravenous sedation.

Process
Liposuction generally takes 1 to 2 hours, however the time can vary from 30 minutes to several hours, depending on the area treated and the amount of fat to be suctioned. The intervention begins when the surgeon makes a very small incision, wide enough to allow the introduction of the suction tube or cannula. The rear end of the cannula is connected to a suction machine.

For several years now, the so-called Tumescent Technique has been used, which consists in injecting saline solutions with lidocaine and adrenaline at the level of the fatty tissue located under the skin. The infiltration of this mixture before starting the suctioning procedure allows the tissues to contract and constrict the blood vessels, thus reducing bleeding, tissue trauma and inflammation, as well as eliminating pain.

Virtually all areas of the body can be treated with liposuction (jowls, nape, cheeks, arms, abdomen, thighs, buttocks, hips, and knees).

After surgery
After surgery, fluid may drain from the wounds more slopes for two to three days. An elastic band should be used for several weeks from the moment the intervention is completed.
Do not expect immediate results after the operation. The treated areas will be swollen and you may feel a burning sensation. The pain is controlled with common analgesics. Antibiotics will be indicated to prevent infection.

Any surgical practice involves certain risks. In rare cases the procedure can cause severe trauma, especially if large areas are treated in a single surgical time.

Other rare but possible complications are infection and excessive loss of body fluids. However, liposuction is a highly safe and reliable procedure, provided that patients are carefully selected, the area and appropriate equipment is available and, above all, performed by the specialized hands of a Plastic Surgeon.

Your new image
Liposuction is definitely a highly effective technique that can give you a new body contour with few scars. The results can be permanent, depending on your diet and exercise habits. However, if you gain weight again, it will most likely be in a uniform manner and not in localized areas.

In recent years, thousands of women and men have benefited from this fabulous surgical procedure. A lean and healthy body, will give you more confidence in you and greater security in dealing with others.
